RAPID CITY, S.D. (March 1, 2017) – Dennis Millirons, interim Rapid City Regional Hospital and Rapid City Market president, will complete his engagement with Regional Health effective March 16, 2017.
“Dennis has served as a senior leader at Rapid City Regional Hospital and in our Rapid City market during an important transitional time,” said Regional Health Chief Operating Officer Paulette Davidson. “Under his leadership, we continued to improve performance in clinical excellence and patient experience. Also during his engagement, we announced a major expansion and construction project that is now underway on the Rapid City Regional Hospital campus.”
Millirons joined Rapid City Regional Hospital in August 2016, and during this time Regional Hospital was named one of the top three hospitals in South Dakota by U.S. News and World Report. It also was recognized as one of only two South Dakota hospitals deserving of the Healthgrades 2017 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. Meanwhile, patients both inside the hospital and at ambulatory clinics have shown increasing satisfaction through their patient experience feedback.
Since Millirons arrived, construction has begun on a three-story parking garage off of Rapid City Regional Hospital’s Fifth Street entrance. It is the first phase of a multi-phase, multi-year project that will include a new emergency department, inpatient bed tower, and a physicians’ office building.
Davidson, the health system COO, will serve as interim Rapid City Regional Hospital and Rapid City market president while a nationwide executive search continues. She joined Regional Health in October 2015 from Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, where she was system Chief Human Capital and Patient Experience Officer. Davidson had previously worked as the Chief Executive Officer of Nebraska Medicine’s Bellevue Medical Center and as the COO and Vice President of Hospital Operations at Indiana University Health in Goshen.
A fellow in the College of American Health Care Executives (FACHE), Davidson holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
